4th Grade and OD-E fall short in the Semi Finals

Both the 4th Grade and the OD-E side fell short of winning their semi finals.

4th Grade took on top of the ladder Cockburn and lost the toss and bowled. Some tight bowling saw Cockburn 4-130 after tea, but then a 105 run partnership saw Cockburn take control, and ended the day at 9/260. James Free (4-40) and Dennis Plummer (3-71) were the pick of the bowlers.<\p>

Unfortunately, wickets fell early for Maddington, with the score 3-16 at one stage. A good partnership between Shylesh Pillai (14) and Bevan Kearney (56) gave some hope, but the other batsmen fell cheaply. Some big hitting at the end by James Free (24 no) and Reza Rustami (14) took the score to 138.

OD-E took on Willetton in the other Semi Final. Batting first Maddington scored 8/147 off 35 overs. Zac Fergie (49), Clayton Visser (20) and Ben Murray (20) were the top scorers.<\p>

In an exciting chase, the game came down to the very last over of the game. With the scores tied, Ben Murray bowled 5 dot balls in a row, before bowling a wide the last ball, giving Willetton the win off the very last ball. Albert Plummer 2-16 and Aren Zuidema 2-36 were the best bowlers for Maddington.

Congratulations to all players and to the 4th and OD-E sides for making the semi finals.<\p>
